St. Claire's - Manicure Magic

Ah, Claire's. The place of all that is cheap and holy. Yes, cheap and holy. Cheap. And holy. Cheap (and a bit holy). O.o

Sorry about that. I just got a bit excited. Claire's is magnificent! Not only do they have so many adorable wickle eawwings to choose from, in all different shapes, sizes and colours, but they also have great hats, bags, scarves, gloves, makeup sets, other jewellery, hair accessories and even (gulp) fake clip-on hair (mmm delightful...err). In my opinion, though, the best thing they have on sale is their nail varnish. Most of it is in the £2-£5 price range (woo!), and it comes in such great and dazzling colours.

Those nail varnishes are very amazing, of course, but the thing which I find suitably festive and unbelievably blinding is...duh duh duh duuun - sparkly nail varnish. As well as being perfect for Christmas, it also looks great and is actually a lot easier to apply than ordinary nail varnish. The actual paint is clear, but it is full of sparkles, so you just need to dab it on, and psread it around, so there is no nail showing, and it's almost impossible to get on your skin, and miss the nail. I have a deep blue one, and intend to get a red one, y'know, in the spirit of things (wink wink)...

These cute varnishes would also be perfect X-Mas presents - the sparkly ones are £2.25, and you could get loads to give to your friend, and it would still be pretty cheap! So make sure you get one of these, for yourself, and for a friend :)

The Decorating Theory

I've heard many times that the way you decorate your your room affects the mood of it. But is that really true? In my opinion, the colour of the walls is so important! For example, a pale blue will create a calm and lethargic mood. A white will feel fresh, but black would feel negative and uninviting. Gaby recently redecorated her room, and she painted her walls a sort of teal and purest white. Her room looks sophisticated and beautiful, and colours like those are great, because they are easily likable. The curtains are also important. If you have a pattern on your walls, you don't want patterned curtains - keep it simple, and it won't like busy. You should also be careful when you think about the fabric of the curtains, or maybe a sofa, if you have a sofa in your room. We recently bought a sofa which is a sort of golden grey velvet, with pillows (velvet, too) with stripes of different hues of green, from lightest to darkest. It may sound horrendous when I describe it, but it is stunning!

Another thing to note is pictures. If you have pictures on your wall, reevaluate them. Really think, is this in keeping with the tone of my bedroom? I mean, if you had pastel coloured walls, and decorations, would you really have pictures of dark stormy night, or something dark and intimidating? It wouldn't be a good idea! If you did have pastel colours in your room, you could have pictures of...flowers, or something like that, and it could be in black and white, and still look good, but it's the content of the picture that is really important.

The last thing I am going to mention when it comes to decorating your room is your bed. You don't want to have a dull bedspread, but make sure you keep the colours on the same palette as the colours in the rest of your room. For instance, if you have, say pink walls in your room, don't, please don't, get an orange bedspread! Trust me, it will not look good.
