Ears, ears, ears..

Let me tell you a little story...
When I was about three, I went to get my ears pierced. My sister kept yelling in my ear "the little guns hurt waaaaaay more than the small ones your ears are going to fall off! Ha ha he ha HA! I had a big gun and it didn't hurt one bit! Ha ha!..." - and so she went on and on and on and on and on and.. -what? Oh, right, um eh hem, you get the picture, okay.. Anyway, she was making me feel absolutely terrified, I was three and I practically wet myself.
I will tell you this now: YOUR A LIAR AND A MEANIE! Oh on, wait, that's what I told my sister after my ears had been pierced, because it didn't hurt nearly so bad as she said it would. All it was was a strong pinch on the your ear for half a second, the the ear is sore for about one minute after that, but that's it!

So yes, I got my ears pierced...then more than a decade went by...it came to 28th November 2010, and along I hopped to my local pharmacy to get a second piercing on my right earlobe. I wanted one! I had seen so many people with one, and I don't think it looks punkish or whatever, as some people assume - 'oh, more than one set of piercings is bad news!' - don't listen to them! My second piercing looks great, and it looks sweet if you have a small silver diamond. The piercing hurt just as little as the first time, except half as much, because it was only on one ear (;D). So I suggest you go to the pharmacy, or Claire's, and get a second one done - it's edgy, nice and just looks good.
<---my piercing!

Nails-Bright is Hot

This season, the way to wear your nails is BRIGHT. All the celebs are- and so should you ;). Every nail polish designer has released neons, pastels or other cute colours. A particular favourite of mine is Barry M.
Check out some celebs rocking the look (sorry if the pictures don't all load).

Katie Perry, and of course Rihanna, and...wait..*talks to manager* Justin Bieber?? Yes, apparently JB has released his own ..nailpolish...um. that's quite worrying. anywayyyy um..

Why not also try some different patterns and pictures- to be even more individual than bright nails. I paint my nails as watermelons. See below? like em? I think they're really cute, and everyone complements them. You can also change the base coat to any colour you like!

First)- paint a base coat- can be whatever you want it to be, in this case i used blue. Wait for it to dry before stage 2
Second)- paint the tip of your nail white. wait for it to dry ( i used a glittery silver to make it look nicer)
Thirdly)- paint a smaller tip of green, then add some black dots.
PERFECT!
So that's how you make watermelon nails!  IT'S SO EASY! and  creative!

I like going on Cut out and keep you may have used this before? it's a really good website and is useful for making things, baking things and creating things ;)
I hope you liked this
Thanks sooo much

St. Claire's - Manicure Magic

Ah, Claire's. The place of all that is cheap and holy. Yes, cheap and holy. Cheap. And holy. Cheap (and a bit holy). O.o
Sorry about that. I just got a bit excited. Claire's is magnificent! Not only do they have so many adorable wickle eawwings to choose from, in all different shapes, sizes and colours, but they also have great hats, bags, scarves, gloves, makeup sets, other jewellery, hair accessories and even (gulp) fake clip-on hair (mmm delightful...err). In my opinion, though, the best thing they have on sale is their nail varnish. Most of it is in the £2-£5 price range (woo!), and it comes in such great and dazzling colours.

Those nail varnishes are very amazing, of course, but the thing which I find suitably festive and unbelievably blinding is...duh duh duh duuun - sparkly nail varnish. As well as being perfect for Christmas, it also looks great and is actually a lot easier to apply than ordinary nail varnish. The actual paint is clear, but it is full of sparkles, so you just need to dab it on, and psread it around, so there is no nail showing, and it's almost impossible to get on your skin, and miss the nail. I have a deep blue one, and intend to get a red one, y'know, in the spirit of things (wink wink)...
These cute varnishes would also be perfect X-Mas presents - the sparkly ones are £2.25, and you could get loads to give to your friend, and it would still be pretty cheap! So make sure you get one of these, for yourself, and for a friend :)
Lots of love,
N

N.B.: I still have to do my last post on this season's three trends, so make sure you keep checking back so you don't miss it! I should hopefully do it over the next few days...

Thinking about Xmas

Yes, Teens, it's that time of year when the wrapping paper sees the light from the dusty garage, the sparkly cello tape is untangled and they hunt for presents around shopping centres is here!!!
I'll be showing you some great presents for you and your family RIGHT HERE!
Have you ever wondered what on EARTH are you going to buy your friends this christmas? Yes? You're not alone. I think that as christmas approaches, we start to go slightly mad, not focusing on what we need to do get or organise for the big day. Yes, we definitely go slightely mad...Maybe it's also thanks to the lack of snow, the weather men telling us how 'it'll snow in a few days!' and...we get our thermal clothes on and..well, nothing, maybe a hint of frost but there's NO snow outside. Maybe it's that someone at school just pops out saying 'it's a month till christmas' and you go in a frenzy- an excited frenzy- getting all hyped up and ready to go shopping. What ever it is that causes this christmasitus, we can't be sure.
When I think Christmas I think = presents, =shopping and =sweets. I know that's not what you're meant to think of..but i do, I'm sure we alllll think of that. They certainly ARE the highlights of Xmas.
Here are some great ideas for your friends for christmas, just little, under £10 things to add to the big art box or bath bombs or cupcake baking kit to make it special...(soz i couldn't get pictures )
(these can all be found at John Lewis if they're in stock)

So get out, and get buying before the Christmas rush! Just grab a coffee and get shopping ;)
Enjoy Christmas, Enjoy Total Teen style :)

This Season's Three Best Friends - No. 2

Right so as promised...yes, you may bow down to me now...I have the next great trend of this season! My personal favourite - the regal look!

The colour palette is made up of rich forest greens, dazzling reds and go-for gold - it's exquisite and eye-catching. Everything this season is about standing out against the grey and being golden - literally.

For accessories, brass buttons and gold braiding elevate boots from the ordinary. Jewellery - a knuckle-duster handle, rich tapestry fabric...the majesty is in the detail. Look for gold pieces with artisan touches!

Bags:
Topshop - £33
The colours and fabrics in this clutch are stunning.

Topshop - £50
This piece is uniquely authentic.

Topshop - £45
This is so original and gives a sense of authority.

Dresses:

Miss Selfridge - £50
The rich burgundy in this is great and so is the velvet.

Jewellery:
With jewellery, Topshop is the perfect place to look in. Their pieces are mostly gold and very regal - that's why I love them!

Topshop - £8.50
Red, velvet, gold and braiding is the way to go - this necklace is the perfect example of that!

Topshop - £12.50
This across-the-knuckle ring is nature-themed, which works well and looks old-fashioned.

Topshop - £10
OH. MY. GOD. I have fallen in love! This bracelet looks like the type of bracelet which Queens would've been wearing since the day they were born, a birth present from a Prince of Somewhere or Other...who they ended up marrying.

Topshop - £8
Pick up anything to do with nature - bird studs, like these, leaf rings, flower necklaces etcetera...

Make sure you check in on our blog tomorrow and the day after to catch this season's third amazing trend ;).

Autumns in the air- No really, it is *brrrr*

Do you like the autumnal feeling of the blog? The patchwork, the browny/reddy leaf colours. My friend has a beautiful coat, (Hannah K) and I absolutely love it! She wears it everywhere and it really looks cute and seasonal. I hope you all go out and buy autumnal clothes, maybe some beautiful ankle boots or cute paw gloves like my other friend (Helena W), they're adorable and fluffy, and she got them for her b-day.
Thanks, get some autumnal stuff.

This Season's Three Best Friends - No. 1

Or should I say three best trends...
When I picked up this month's ELLE UK edition, I had no idea it would hold the key to all my answers - but it did. Here is this season's key trend number one:

1. Jewels and Sparkles
Embellished accessories and sparkly clothes are so in right now! With clothes, the greatest piece is the sparkly blazer, or big-shouldered mini. I mean, just look at Anne Hathaway on the cover of ELLE:

and Natalia Vodianova on the cover of Harper's Bazaar:

and even Lara Stone on the cover of Vogue:

If you want to snatch up this staple item for a price that won't break the bank, here are some ideas...        Topshop - £120
I can't display a picture of this Lipsy dresses unfortunately, but take a look at the page!

With accessories, you should make sure they are hugely embellished, jewel-encrusted and oh-so-extravagant - this season less isn't more...it actually is less! I don't know what it is, it must be Christmas...

River Island - £75

So, that is trend one - jewel purpose. In my next post I will tell you how to do trend two!
p.s. You shouldn't wear embellished accessories with sparkly dresses - wear the accessories with luxe clothes with clean lines, and lots of silk. Keep accessories simple and minimalist with sparkly dresses.

Geek Chic- Nerdy or Fashion Sturdy?

The trademark Geek- big glasses, checked sweaters, big teeth, flippy hair...If you said this to me a year ago I'd cringe, but now-it's society's biggest fashion. Everyone - literally EVERYONE - is wearing those "Geek glasses", look round your school, there are t-shirts with them, wearing them - want proof?? Have you even BEEN to the cinema recently? There are those cool 3D glasses that everyone wears- (which I love to sneak back home ;)) Once this girl came to school wearing them- and we all believed they were real, she'd just coloured with black sharpie on the 'real 3d' bit and had popped out the lenses. The teachers also believed it too :P.
Below is a pic of me dressing up 'geek chic' with my 3D glasses and my fave jumper.
So go to the cinemas, grab a pair of those 3D specs, transform them and keep them.

The Red Military with LBGs

Bright is SO in this season. Anything bright will do for winter- to stand out against the snow. I bought this beautiful red military coat from NEXT. I wear some nice Little Black Gloves (LBGs) with them, which make it stand out and keep my hands warm. How gorge? anyway, I was walking into school today when *gasp* I saw the person in front of me with a short red coat and fingerless LBGs. I was so scared, I hid behind a bush while they carried on. Luckily it wasn't a friend, it was a random sixth-former. I breathed a sigh of relief and carried on with my busy day. So, the whole red-coat-black-glove thing is fashionable ;)

Bow Gloves

I was browsing the Topshop website (yes, I do love Topshop), when I saw these adorably cute cuff gloves, with bows at the bottom of them (as well as plum, these gloves also come in red). So I decided to do some more browsing, and I found another pretty pair on New Look, and two lovely ones on Miss Selfridge. I love this style!

The Royal Engagement!

For those of you who live in the UK, you've probably already heard about the royal engagement which was announced this morning. It's very exciting that Prince William and Kate Middleton are finally marrying after a decade together! This news gave me an idea: doing a wedding post on the blog!
On the catwalk this season there have been ten top styles which have got me falling in love...

Top Ten 2010/2011 Wedding Trends:

1. Ruffles

Ruffles are something brides tend to love or hate – they’re slightly over-the-top, definitely unminimilistic and tend to swing between either being a hot trend or likened to a toilet-roll doll!  There are some stunning ruffled gowns out there, and for the bride who wants to create impact, ruffles may be well worth a look.

2. 1950's Style

Yep, the 1950s style influences are still in vogue! 1950s chic is appearing in many designers’ collections, so brides are spoilt for choice.  Hooray! :P

3. Asymmetrical Seams

Asymmetrical seams have been around and hugely popular for a couple of years, and there’s still plenty more of that style to come – mostly because it’s highly flattering to many brides.

4. Flower Power

Flower detailing is everywhere at the moment, and there really is nothing more pretty or more feminine, whether you go for a skirt smothered in foliage, or just for some small detailing.

5. Bows to wow

The bow. Isn't it gorgeous? Definitely stylish, definitely adds a wow factor.

6. Beading Highlights

Eye-catching sparkly beading on strategic areas of your wedding gown adds je ne sais quoi to what otherwise might be a fairly plain gown, and it’s very popular right now with designers.

7. Sleeves & Straps

Non-sleeveless gowns are currently having their moment in the sun – around ten years ago, any non-sleeveless designs looked distinctly lonely amongst the crowd of sleeveless wedding gowns.  But sleeves and straps are back with a vengence, so if you want the variety that different styles of sleeves & straps provide, rejoice!

8. Flowing Greek Goddess Gowns

These gowns will probably look fit a more super-skinny, straight up and down body, so if that's you then this is you dress! – made from soft, slinky, flowing fabrics, they are super-sexy.

9. Ballgowns

Super fashionable for the last couple of years, ballgowns are still hot stuff, and if you always fantasised about being a Disney princess style bride as a little girl, you can safely do so without being accused of not being up to date.

10. Lace

Whether you go for lace inserts or a complete covering in lace, lace embellished wedding dresses are hot right now.  This is a favourite look of mine, because I think it is unbelievably elegant, and magical - and I have no idea why!

So which was your favourite look? Tell us below in the comments; was it ruffles, 1950's style, asymmetrical seams, flower power, bows to wow, beading highlights, sleeves & straps, flowing Greek goddess gowns, ballgowns or lace?

P.S. Names to watch out for: Vera Wang (very popular, especially amongst celebs), Amanda Wakeley, Alberta Ferreti, Carolina Ferrera (also does amazing fragrances) and Marchesa ;).
